Archbishop Apuron Leads Guam Delegation at John Paul II Beatification in Rome
Guam - Guam's Archbishop Anthony Apuron lead a group of about 40 Guamanians to Rome for the beatification ceremonies of Pope John Paul II Sunday.
The Archbishop has recently recovered from an angioplasty operation at a California Hospital. He and the faithful from Guam were among more than a million people from around the world who crowded into St. Peter's Square in Rome.
Pope Benedict presided over the beatification ceremony which brings John Paul II one step closer to sainthood.
Many in the group from Guam including the Archbishop were present when Pope John Paul II stopped on Guam 1981. John Paul II passed away in 2005.
The Sorensen Media Group sent a film crew to document their experience, that will be shown in a three part program titled "Y Santo Papa: The Making of a Saint," coming to ABC 7 and FOX 6 later this summer.
